Highlights of the Winter...Thus Far

After meeting up with one of my sisters Lauren (whose blog Dreams Take Flight is absolutely amazing by the way!) I decided to delve back into the world of blogging. I started a blog back in September but I never really did anything with it, so I decided to start fresh and create something new. So, as a celebration of this blog, I want to highlight a few of the best moments from this winter season (only 2 more weeks eek!) thus far.
In early December, my sorority had its winter semi-formal/crush party, this year's theme was a masquerade. We all wore masks and dressed up in fun dresses, had dinner, and then danced to some fun tunes. Here is myself and my date, Bobby, and one of my sisters Jennylee and her date, Slavin.

The day after our masquerade semi-formal, I went to the Army/Navy Game in Philadelphia with two of my sisters Lauren and Joella, in addition to our friend Jelani and Lauren's boyfriend, Brian, who goes to West Point. It was so cold the whole time! I had on three pairs of pants, five shirts, three pairs of socks, and two pairs of gloves, in addition to massive amounts of outerwear.

We even got to see the Cadets from West Point and the Mids from the Naval Academy march onto the field. They marched on at 11:47 am, just as precisely as they were supposed to! The Army Cadets were so organized and precise when they marched on. Lauren's boyfriend even got his name announced because he is a Company Commander!

In continuing with the trend of a crazy-busy weekend, the Sunday following the Army/Navy Game, me and five of my sorority sisters went to a Switchfoot concert in D.C. Although the tire to Samm's car did blow out of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway, we managed to get to the concert right as Switchfoot went on. It was perfect!

The Blizzard of 2009 (where we got over two feet of snow!) hit the following weekend, just as I had finished my last final. On Saturday, during the height of the storm, me and a few of my sisters decided to venture out and attempt to sled. It didn't really work out. It ended up being us sinking in the snow up to our thighs. It was a good time though.

The day after Christmas, I went with my best friend Danielle and her family to their house in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Though it was still pretty cold (though not as cold as it was up north), it was still awesome to go down to the beach, especially at night when the Garden City Pier was deserted. Danielle and I had a little impromptu photo shoot on the pier...something we could only do because there wasn't anyone to laugh at us.

The next day we went back to the beach during the daytime. We found so many cool things that had washed up on shore. We were especially fond of the starfish we found...they were affectionately called "new best friends."

The beach was so gorgeous when there was little human traffic to disturb it. It was calming and peaceful, just as it should be.

The last day of my South Carolina trip, we went into downtown Charleston, which is about an hour and a half from Myrtle Beach. I absolutely love Charleston. It has so much southern charm and decadence and has some of the nicest people around!

I came back from South Carolina on New Years Eve day around 4:30 in the morning. After sleeping for several hours, I spent the rest of NYE with my friends from school. It was definitely a great way to ring in 2010!

As January began, I began working again, and doing orientations at school. I loved doing orientations with all my OPA loves again. I found out that I got a 4.0 this semester and was so happy that all my hard work had finally paid off! And as an added bonus I got to spend some time with some of my amazing sisters whom I had not seen in a couple weeks!

Who knows what the rest of 2010 will bring, but for right now, life is good. And I'm happy with that.
