So, whoever decided to put the Golden Globes (my favorite awards show) and the season premiere of 24 on the same night was clearly out of their mind. I mean, I know that the Globes are on NBC and 24 is on Fox, but come on! I feel like things like this just shouldn't happen. So, after the football game (JETS!!!!) I watched the first hour of the Golden Globes, and then flipped to watching 24 with my Mom at 9 pm. 24 is two hours long so I will be missing most of the Globes. Aside, from flipping back during commercials that is. However, I do plan to dissect the winners in the categories that I care about. So, here we go.
Best Actress in a TV Series: Comedy or Musical. WINNER: Toni Collette, The United States of Tara. Although I really really wanted Lea Michele to win for Glee, because as everyone should know by now, I am Glee obsessed, I was happy for Toni Collette. Though I have never watched The United States of Tara, anyone who can play four roles as one person gets a nod from me. It's like Sybil, but more humorous, in a way.
Best Actress in a TV Series: Drama. WINNER: Julianna Margulies, The Good Wife. Okay, I totally wanted Anna Paquin to win this one for True Blood, because I've been a True Blood fan since the beginning and an Anna Paquin fan since before TB even existed. However, I remember Julianna Margulies from back in the good old ER days, and when she gave George Clooney a kiss on his cheek (ER throwback anyone?!?!) as she went up to accept her award, I was reminded of how awesome she is.
Best Actor in a TV Series: Comedy or Musical. WINNER: Alec Baldwin, 30 Rock. Matt Morrison for Glee got robbed. I'd like to go one year without someone from 30 Rock winning. Except Tina Fey, she's great.
Best TV Series: Drama. WINNER: Mad Men. Okay, so I've never watched Mad Men, and I'm sure it's great. I mean I hear good things about it and all, but I really wanted True Blood to win. It's such a well-liked and creative show with some great actors. I hope something I want to win tonight does.
Best Supporting Actress: TV. WINNER: Chloe Sevigny, Big Love. Okay, now this I'm mad about. Given I've never watched Big Love, but seriously HOW DID JANE LYNCH NOT WIN?! She's Sue Sylvester! Talk about great acting and an awesome character on Glee! Jane should have totally won. Now, I just have to hold out hope that Glee can win Best TV Comedy tonight!
Best TV Series: Comedy or Musical. WINNER: Glee!!!!!! After refreshing the page where I was getting my GG updates, I saw that Glee won! Finally! A great show and cast gets recognized! If Glee didn't win this one, I may have written a letter to the Hollywood Foreign Press in protest.
Well, since Glee won and I'm happy, I'm just going to end this now. Let me know what you all thought about the Globes!
